Wood Carving
is considered one of Thailand's finest traditional handicrafts
that have been passed down from the Sukhothai period
(1238-1438). The evidence of the long existing carving
arts can be found at Buddhist temples on their windows,
doors and other wooden parts.
Teak wood is among the best
in the world for creating high quality wood carvings.
Carved by hand from a single piece of wood, the teak
wood carvings are created by local craftsmen and craftswomen
whose woodworking and carving skills have been handed
down for generations. Because the teak wood carvings
are all hand-crafted, no two are identical to each other.
Variations in size, wood color, wood grain and weight
are inherent in hand made products. |
